Richard Best
After graduating in 1987 with a Bachelor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, I made the choice to practice in a relaxed home environment. Hendra was my preferred area for The House of Natural Health, having lived locally for most of my life. The beautiful 1924 Queenslander home was renovated to create a clinic specific to the needs of our patients.
In 1996 I continued my studies in China under the famous Doctor Zhao Ben Chuan at the Zhejiang Hospital, Hangzhou. On returning I was elected to the Australian Association Board as ‘Director for Education’ where I was involved in organising and opening the first National Symposium of Chinese Medicine along with a number of seminars for post graduate practitioners.
My continuing fascination with the ancient texts of Chinese medicine led me back to China in 2010 to study with the head of the Chengdu TCM hospital Guo Zi-Guang, rated in the top 20 Doctors in China, and Deng Zhong-Jia the Editor in Chief for the China National University curriculum. I have published articles in National Journals and continue lecturing to graduates on the classics of Chinese medicine.
I have dedicated the last 30 years of my life to Chinese medicine, as my profession and as a healthy lifestyle principle for myself and my family. My clinical and personal experience has proven the value of the medicine as a treatment and prevention of disease and as a guide to healthy living.
Richard is registered with the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (CMBA) and the government regulatory body - Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and AACMA (Australian Acupuncture nd Chinese Medicine Association) professional association.
Davina Nowland
Chinese Medicine combines the elements of nature, plants and the environment. After studying Horticulture I began working with herbal medicine at The House of Natural Health in 1998.
I am privileged to be working in one of the only clinics in Australia preparing herbal medicines as powders, pills and decoctions according to authentic classical methods.
As receptionist I am first contact for patients, assuring you feel comfortable and relaxed about your treatments at the House. My administration and organisation skills allow Richard and Steve to focus on their important work of healing.
My interest in diet led me to research the principles of healthy eating which I enjoy sharing with patients. Together we can plan a healthy diet of delicious meals that improve your digestion, prevent illness and keep you feeling energetic and full of life.
Stephen Russell
After graduating in 2002 with an Advanced Diploma in Acupuncture and Remedial Therapies I was fortunate to be offered a place at The House of Natural Health. Practising at The House has given me the inspiration to aim for the highest level of excellence in my profession. My continuing research led me to specialize in Advanced Musculoskeletal Techniques with a focus on postural alignment and complex pain syndromes.
My techniques are aimed at relieveing pain and preventing the return of the conditions that initially cause pain using stretching and exercises specific to your particular needs.
I continually attend to my professional development in order to maintain a high level of knowledge and skill in acupuncture and massage. My teachers include Erik Dalton (USA) in advanced Myo-skeletal technique and Tom Myers (USA) world leader in Myofacial dynamics. I have expanded my acupuncture skills after training in Master Tung seminars.
